Wolf Snow Forest

Wolf Snow Forest

A large timber wolf in the forest walking past. This wolf is beautiful and a pretty good size canine. These wild animals are meat eaters and usually hunt in packs rather than alone. Although they can certainly survive on their own they work best in teams.

Fisher Face Teeth Snow

Fisher Face Teeth Snow

A fisher’s face close up in the snow. You can see this small predators teeth showing from the sides of his mouth. This is evidence that though this fell looks innocent he could certainly give a nasty bite in the event he got an opportunity of was provoked. These animals are rarely seen but live in the Dolly Sods Wilderness and similar areas in West Virginia.

Dark Hollow Falls

Dark Hollow Falls

Down in the forest trail below Shenandoah’s Skyline drive are some beautiful waterfalls called Dark Hollow Falls. These waterfalls are just about a half mile hike down into the valley. Me and all three of my kids hiked down here in just a little while. The hike back up is not as easy but still not too bad. The falls are beautiful and the shade from either side makes log exposure waterfall pictures easy.

Bald Eagle Screech

Bald Eagle Screech

A bald Eagle Screeches while perched upon a tree branch. This predatory bird is amazing to see this close and in such detail. It is pretty loud when they screech, I never realized how loud they were until I heard it in person. What an amazing animal.

Daffodils

Daffodils

Beautiful field of daffodils. There must be a thousand flowers in this field. These flowers are almost done with their blooming cycle for this year. Yet they are still beautiful and these flowers are never unwelcome at the beginning of spring. Daffodils are also called Easter bells because they typically bloom around the Easter holiday. You can keep this flower picture for a reminder of the daffodils until next spring.

A pretty creek stream that cascades down a mountain in the Shenandoah Forest. The water pours through these rocks and crevasses as it is rushing to the bottom of the mountain. This was taken in early spring prior to greenery and leaves coming upon the trees.
